Sharp rise in type 2 diabetes in younger people

The number of people aged 40 and under diagnosed with type 2 diabetes has risen nearly ten-fold over the last 20 years, new research has found.

A study by Cardiff University School of Medicine showed the overall incidence of the disease trebled in the UK population between 1991 and 2010. But the rise was much steeper amongst people of 40 or younger.
